My favorite items are; Mickey
Mantle personalized ball, photo, Polaroids with the Mick, Yankee
Stadium Seatback (25 signatures of
Yankee legends) and, ticket stubs
from games that I attended over the
years.
I met the Mick when I was 12 years old. It was like going to the Vatican
to meet Pope John Paul II. Truly, a
religious experience. Since then, I
began collecting various items of
New York Yankees memorabilia. I’ve
always enjoyed collecting my
autographs in person so that I can
meet the players. That’s been my
favorite part of collecting. It
gave me a chance to say a few words
to the players and thank them for
the memories.
I have tried by best to collect pieces according to themes, such as, 96,
98 World Series, 78 World Series,
3,000 hit club etc. I also enjoy
inscriptions, as it tells a story
and enhances the theme of each
piece. For many years, my
collection was in boxes and stored
away in a closet. My wife and I
recently bought a home and now I
can liberate my collection. I’ve
enjoyed seeing everyone else’s
rooms on this site and want to
thank them for the inspiration.
