  Fake & Reproduction Alert

All to often collectors are mistakenly buying vintage memorabilia that is actually a good modern day reproduction of the original. Items that could fool the "experts" as well. KeyMan Collectibles will help you Identify the Fakes from the real thing. Working with some of the most experienced people in the Memorabilia field, KeyMan collectibles will put together a database of information to help you spot the fakes, save you money, and heartache.

Ted's Root Beer Advertising Sign
Ted Williams Teds Root Beer sign This sign is so rare that some price guides do not have a picture, and do not list a price. If you find an original it will not have a copyright of 1952 like this one. Ted Williams did not sign on with the Moxie Corp. until November of 1957, and Ted's Root Beer was introduced in December of that year. Read More

Ted's Root Beer Bottle

Teds Root Beer Bottle

The Ted's Root Beer Bottle on the Left is a fantasy piece created in the late 1980's. There are also green, and clear 7 ounce bottles. The bottle on the right is an original bottle made between 1957, and 1967. They were made in 8 & 12 ounce bottles. Some reproduction bottles have a date of 1943 printed on the bottom. Ted Williams did not endorse for The Moxie Corp. (maker of Ted's Root Beer), until 1957. Ted's Root Beer was bottled in Needham, Massachusetts not Boston as the fantasy bottle indicates. See picture

Babe Ruth Esso Boys Club Premium Pin
Babe Ruth Esso Pin This Pin like loads of many other Babe Ruth collectors pins are being sold as original in large numbers. Notice that the writing is bold on the original pin Left side, as compared to the reproduction pin Right side. The reproduction pin also has less detail on the "baseball stitching"  Read More

Mickey Mantle Rawlings Advertising Sign
Mickey Mantle Rawlings sign The sign on the left has surfaced on eBay dozens of times this past year. In some cases the same exact photo is being used by different sellers, and quickly being removed after the "Private auction" ends. Pictured on the Right is an original Mickey Mantle Ad that is very rarely seen. Read More

Buyer beware!

Mickey Mantle Teresa Brewer "I Love Mickey" Pin
Mickey Mantle Teresa Brewer I Love Mickey Pin The original vintage pin was issued with the Sheet music in 1956. In the early 1980s the sheet music for "I Love Mickey" was reprinted by Goldenrod Music inc. as were the Pins. The newer pins however were printed with red writing as opposed to the original 1956 "I love Mickey" Pins in black. The back of the pins make it obvious but the 1980s pin is often sold as vintage 1956. Read More

The Jackie Robinson Story Movie Poster / Lobby Card
The Jackie Robinson Story Movie Poster / Lobby Card This fake sign on the left is described as a "window display advertising", or "movie Lobby Card / Poster." The Fake posters are not the right size to be a Lobby card. The color flaws are to make the poster look vintage. The Fake Movie Posters measure 7 14" x 11". The original Poster pictured on the right measures 27" x 41" Lobby cards for this Movie were made horizontal, and measure 11" x 14"   Read More

Babe Ruth Baseball Club Pin
Babe Ruth Baseball Club Pin The original pin pictured on the left is black and white. The "baseball stitching" is more detailed on the original as well. A different picture was also used on the reproduction shown on the right. The Babe is wearing a Yankees hat on the repro, the Printing is Bold, and the signature looks faked.

Mickey Mantle A Day To Remember Pin
Mickey Mantle A Day To Remember Pin The pin pictured on the right is a rare, and original June 8, 1969 Mickey Mantle Day pin. The pin was attached to a pennant when sold by vendors on Mickey Mantle day, and measures 1 3/4". The reproduction or "Fantasy pin" shown on the Left, commonly found on eBay was manufactured in great quantities many years after 1969. Most likely in the late 1980's to the present day.
