Vintage 1961 Mickey Mantle Roger Maris Stellar Radio

This is a Mickey Mantle Roger Maris AM radio manufactured by Stellar in 1961-1962. Measuring 5” in height by 7” in width and 4” in depth, it features the signature of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris under the green on-off switch in the shape of a baseball diamond. The speaker features a figure of a batter. The tuning dial is in the shape of a bat Common flaws: missing dials, and frayed or missing electrical cord.

"It’s a beautiful day in the Bronx as a huge crowd takes in the June 30, 1960 matinee, between the Bronx Bombers and the Kansas City A's. The Bombers would live up their name this day as they would belt five round trippers while cruising to a 10-3 victory. Watching the action intently from the on-deck circle, in his first season in New York is Roger Maris. One inning earlier, he belted his 25th dinger of the season. Now it was the Mick’s turn to go deep, as he rockets this pitch from Bob Trowbridge into the right field seats. It was the Commerce Comet's 18th round tripper.
