NOTES:

On June 24, 2021, the U.S. Postal Service issued the Yogi Berra commemorative stamp dedicated during a ceremony at the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center in Little Falls, NJ. Broadcaster Bob Costas served as M.C. of a star-studded ceremony. The Yogi Berra forever baseball postage stamp was printed in panes of 20 (1 design) from the USPS that honors the Hall of Fame catcher from the New York Yankees.

Berra is only the 30th baseball player to have his picture on a stamp. A great majority of those stamps were part of multiplayer issue. Berra is the first player since Lou Gehrig in 1989 to receive an issuance all his own. The only others were the 1982 Jackie Robinson issue, and Babe Ruth in 1983.

The stamp art is an original digital portrait of Berra dressed in his Yankees cap, pinstripes, and catcher’s chest protector. Antonio Alcalá was the project art director and stamp designer. Charles Chaisson was the artist. The lettering for “Yogi Berra” was designed and created by Michael Doret.

The First Day Cover pictured above has the official "First Day Issue, Yogi Berra, MLB All-Star, Little Falls, NJ 07424, Month: June, Day: 24, Year: 2021" ticket stub format postmark stamp cancellation, used at the Yogi Berra Museum. A different black ink postmark stamp cancellation was used at the Little Falls, NJ post office. (see below)

Below is the “special” postmark, which other cities were allowed to use, but not on the first day, measures. Only the following guidelines were permitted for pictorial postmarks for the Yogi Berra stamp: The word “Station” or the abbreviation “STA” is required somewhere in the design because it will be a temporary station. Use of any image other than the special pictorial image (featured on the FDC pictured below) is prohibited.

Also pictured below is an "uncacheted" First Day Cover issued by the post office through the mail. (uncacheted - a cover which has no cachet design) Some uncacheted covers are used for "Add-on Cachets" - A cachet that has been added to a previously uncacheted first day cover after the first day of issue. The add-on could be hand-painted, hand-drawn, computer printed, rubber stamped, a glued photograph to name a few methods, and made in very limited edition, many are one-of-a-kind. Unfortunately, many add-ons are not so identified.

Forever Stamps can be used to mail a one-ounce letter regardless of when the stamps are purchased or used and no matter how prices may change in the future. Forever Stamps are always sold at the same price as a regular First-Class Mail stamp.
