NOTES:

Designed by 1920's-1930's MLB ballplayer Ethan Allen, this All Star Baseball game, manufactured by Cadaco Inc., first appeared in 1941, was revised in 1966, again in 1968 and 1988. It was the best selling baseball board game of all time. The game was discontinued in the mid-1990s due to the loss of market share to video games and the increased player licensing costs.

The game is designed for two players "each acting as manager of one team" More players my act as co-managers or additional players may challenge the winning manager to a game. The rules and play of All*Star Baseball as the instructions read on the inner lid of the box "are the same as in real Baseball. Players are assumed to have a general idea of the rules of baseball. Those who do not should refer to a baseball guide."

Equipment: 60 All Star player discs, Strategy disc (A-E and F-J); Baseball Diamond (board) "At Bat" Spinners with fielding K-O dials; 4 plastic Pegs used for runners (wooden pegs before 1967); Bating Key; Score Pad; Scoreboard (inserts into board) with Runs per inning and Outs dials, and keys for A-E and F-J Strategy plays and K-O Dial.

Cadaco updated the discs/cards annually, adding new players and updated stats. The older cards were sometimes, sold older cards through a mail order. Cards made in 1967 and before are die-cut in the center, to fit over a Cardboard block. In 1968 the board is redesigned, removing the block, and a plastic sleeve is added to insert the cards. The original 1969 Cadaco discs were printed with the incorrect positions, and were corrected later in the year. Player photographs were added to the cards in 1989 to attract collectors, but the effort failed as the board game market loses out to the video game generation.
