New York Polo Grounds World Series Press Pin.
This piece of vintage baseball memorabilia dates from
the first appearance of the New York Yankees in the
World Series challenging their cross town rivals,
the New York Giants. This press pin was the only style issued that year given the fact that the competing clubs shared their
Polo Grounds home.
The New York Giants won the best of
nine series five games to three. Press
Pins which have been distributed since 1911, are
distributed to members of the media by the host teams
for the World Series games. The press pins
are made to be worn on the lapel to provide reporters
access to cover the game. This press pin is a
brooch with a safety pin back.
